Summer is by far my favorite season of the year. I love the long days and warm summer nights. I love the smell of sunscreen and freshly mowed grass and I love, love, love all the outdoor adventure time that summer provides. This year in order to make the most of all this wonderful time, I have put together a list of 5 simple ways to help you make the most of summer.
MAKE A BUCKET LIST
Write down all the adventures, big and small, that you want to do over summer break. Make sure you get everyone in the family involved in the planning. This is a great time to teach your kiddos negotiating skills.........haha. Scroll down to get your free Summer Bucket List to download! Fill it out and put it on the fridge for extra motivation.
THE MORE THE MERRIER
Plan adventures that involve more than just your family. Lots of times when kids are out of school for the summer they don't get as much time with friends and kids their own age. Planning activities with cousins, neighbors, and friends is a great way to get kids the social time they need.
THINK QUALITY TIME
Make sure you put a little downtime in your summer schedule so that you can focus on quality time together. Go on a family walk or take a picnic to the park. Simple activities are often less stressful and make it easier to connect.
Summer is a great time to visit places that you wouldn't normally think to. Get online and research things to do in and around where you live. You will be surprised at all the amazing things you have been missing
GO BIG AND SMALL
Summer is a great time to fit in the big vacations that you can't do when the kids are in school but also make sure to fit in little adventures too. Planning a one to two-night getaway or camping trip will help keep the adventure momentum going when the big trip has come and gone.
